Union Mourns Joseph Calisi, 67, Aided in Organizing New Unit
Joe was a fixture at TWU Local 100 events where he took photographs before COVID stopped most meetings. A train buff, he reported on the transit industry as a photojournalist for rail publications and was also a voice-over artist on NYCTA’s Transit Transit newsmagazine for two decades. One of his reports, on steam locomotives in China, won an award for the newsmagazine. He also loved to play soccer in his free time.
He was fiercely proud of his Italian heritage, hailing from the town of Bari on the Adriatic coast. He died only two years after retiring from NYCT and leaves his loving wife, Roxanne, family in Bari, and countless friends.
