Bruce Miley, Liberty Lines Operator, Dies of Virus
Co-worker and Private Operations Division Chair, Carlos Bernabel, remembered Bruce as “a very friendly guy, always smiling. When the news got out of his passing there were a lot of tears.”
Bernabel added, “the mood at our depots is very sad. We have lost a good union brother. It’s heartbreaking.”
But, added Bernabel, “we’re still out there transporting the people to the hospitals, to the senior homes, to other essential businesses. The drivers are scared, but they understand the responsibility.” He said that an addition 20 Liberty Bus Operators are out sick with positive tests.
Local 100 President Tony Utano said: “This virus has taken our brothers and sisters in all divisions, across the union. I offer my condolences to Brother Miley’s wife and family, and to all his friends and co-workers at Liberty.”
