TWU Local 100 Turns Out and Stands Up for Assault Victim CTA Anthony Nelson
Dozens of union officers and members stood with Anthony, and his family, outside the Bronx courthouse, demanding justice. The contingent then packed the courtroom when the case against career criminal Alexander Wright was called.
Wright was indicted on second-degree assault, punishable by up to 7 years in prison.
TWU Local 100 is demanding the maximum punishment for the heinous crime. TWU Local 100 President Utano and Stations Vice President Robert Kelley pledged Local 100 would keep applying public pressure – and supporting Nelson.
“We support him today,” Utano said. “We will support him tomorrow, the next day, and until justice is done.”
The next Court date is Sept.6, 2022.
“We will be back,” Kelley vowed.
